Founded in 1974, The Green Scene began as a lawn service in Marlboro, NJ, but soon branched out in 1976 by adding Garden Construction --patios, decks, gazebos, etc. -- to its range of services offered to its clients. Later this same year we further diversified by focusing more intently on landscaping, developing a flair for the extraordinary and unusual.
By 1979, we eliminated the lawn service division entirely, and concentrated on expanding and improving our Landscape and Construction departments. Nineteen seventy-nine was also the year we purchased the Millstone farm, giving us room and opportunity to begin growing our own nursery stock, and letting us further expand our client base.
The Green Scene progressed steadily from here, and in 1986 we purchased an existing evergreen farm in West Windsor, New Jersey, furthering our base of operations into Mercer, Burlington, Ocean and Middlesex counties, as well as allowing us to venture into Bucks County, PA.
We continued to spread our roots in 1987 with the addition of the Weirwood Farm, an 85 acre growing facility on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
In 1990 The Green Scene began the "artful science" of transplanting extremely large and mature trees. Since then we've transplanted quite a few Tree-mendous Trees, and have gained terrific experience and insight in this challenging specialty field. As such, we've become the "Landscaper's Landscaper," often functioning as a sub-contractor to many other Landscape Contractors in central New Jersey.
Through the years, we've grown along with our trees and shrubs .... expanding wherever feasible, improving many aspects of our services, increasing our scope of operations whenever possible to meet the ever-changing needs of our very reason for being in business....our clients!
We eagerly look ahead to many more years of dedicated service, interesting challenges, wonderful projects, and friendly client relationships. In short, we're looking forward to continuing to beautify homes, tree by tree by tree!
